Membrane biogenesis and transport:

Research in this laboratory is concerned with the biogenesis of cellular membranes and organelles. Previous work has focused on membrane lipid synthesis and vesicular targeting during phagocytosis. Current efforts are aimed at better understanding the transcriptional regulation of lysosome biogenesis, a problem with broad implications for a number of physiological and pathological processes that include tissue homeostasis, infectious diseases, atherosclerosis and other degenerative disorders.
